Introducing budgets with custom schedules

There is a new addition to our growing set of budget tools. You can now define a budget that runs for a custom date range. This can be useful for seasonal promotions or for short-term budget changes.

Typical scenarios where you can use this new tool:

  • Campaigns you want to run for a short period of 1+ days and aim to spend a specific amount of money during that period.
  • Running campaigns that you want to increase/decrease their budget for a period of time before reverting back to the original budget.

Full details can be found here.

You can find this new tool in the budget screen:

More automatic actions for search term alerts

You now have a wider set of automatic actions to execute for underperforming search terms that can be added as negative keywords (in both Search and Shopping campaigns). You can find all the options in the usual Audit settings screen as shown below:

Insights data access made easier

We've simplified the navigation of some of the screens to make it easier to find more insights with fewer clicks.

You'll now be able to see the below insights much quicker:

  • Performance data for a Geo heatmap, hour of week, user location, demographics and networks segments.
  • A map of all your bid adjustments and whether or not they are effective (due to the chosen bidding strategy).

Performance Max search terms insights

Advertisers using Performance Max campaigns find it difficult to gain insights from their search terms due to not being easily accessible in the Google Ads interface and the complexity of how they relate to the search campaign keywords.

A thorough analysis of the Performance Max search terms can help with optimizing your search campaigns as follows:

1) Provide ideas for new keywords that don't yet exist in your search campaigns.

2) Provide ideas for new negative keywords from search terms that are under-performing.

3) Identify search terms that already exist as keywords in search campaigns and hence get an indication of how much of your search traffic is being cannibalized by the Performance Max campaigns.

We have now released a new feature that automates all the above for our customers!

Here are the full details of this new Performance Max search terms insights feature.

Minimum thresholds in performance monitors

Based on feedback from some of our customers, we've now added the ability to define a minimum performance threshold to reach before a performance monitor triggers an alert.

Previously, a performance monitor tracking, for example, significant drops in CTR would have alerted you to such a condition irrespective of the number of clicks. This might have triggered false alerts if the clicks were very few.

It's now possible to define a minimum threshold (e.g. minimum number of clicks) to have before performance alerts are triggered.

To learn more about how performance alerts work, please check this guide.

Budget performance projection

It's now possible to see the projected performance (clicks, conversions, etc.) of any budget, both at the budget level and at the account level.

Future budget spend goal & rollover

You're now able to define the future spend goal for the whole account or at any budget group level. This will ensure your account is updated as soon as the next budget cycle starts and, hence, avoid delays when the beginning of the month falls within a weekend, holiday, etc.

You are now also able to specify any budget roll over in case of both under-spending or over-spending.
